Frances O'Grady, TUC general secretary, said: "I am delighted that the RCM has taken the historic step of becoming the newest member of the TUC.
"The trade union movement derives its strength from its members, and we look forward to working more closely.
"Membership of the TUC brings substantial benefits from both an employment relations and professional perspective – opening up additional opportunities for collaborative working.
"Together with our other affiliates, we will continue to defend and champion our NHS and public services, which are the bedrock to a strong economy and a just society."

RCM Becomes Affiliate To The TUC
The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) has formally become an affiliate to the Trade Union Congress (TUC).The decision was made by the TUC General Council.
