The 21-year-old's comments come just a day after Malik's former bandmate, Liam Payne, admitted the singer had left the band to spend more time with his fiancée.
Appearing on Capital FM on Thursday morning with her Little Mix bandmates, the hosts asked Edwards about her romance – especially when they discovered she wasn't wearing her engagement ring.
Edward quickly replied: "It's being cleaned... You know what? I feel naked, it's horrible. You know when you get used to wearing something... but no, it's getting cleaned."
She then joked about how the media would handle the news, adding: "In the paper tomorrow we'll probably not be together anymore. Yeah, we'll be separated, I'll be heartbroken, it will all be over."
In March, 22-year-old Malik confirmed that he was to leave the band with immediate effect after five years. At the time, he said he wanted to live a more "normal" life away from the spotlight. However, after being spotted working on solo work in a studio, speculation soon emerged that one of the reasons he left was because of his fiancée, Perrie Edwards.
Shortly before announcing his departure from the boyband, Malik was accused of being unfaithful to Edwards. He denied the claims, but it was not the first time he is alleged to have cheated on his partner.
Malik and Edwards first met on The X Factor in 2011. They started dating shortly afterwards and in August 2013, the couple announced they were engaged.
