The couple, named in reports as Carly Birchall and Richard Downes, are understood to have asked the guests attending their big day to learn the lyrics of Katy Perry's hit 'Teenage Dream'. On the big day, the couple filmed various aspects of their wedding and this footage was later edited into a music video. It includes bridesmaids singing into hairbrushes, while at the reception, the guests joined in with the final chorus.
Lee Jackson, a videographer, edited the footage for the couple.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the new bride, Carly, admitted: "It's been phenomenal, you don't expect your wedding video to be an internet hit. We wanted something special to keep from the wedding, but it's blown my mind how fantastic it is and I can't believe how it's been going round online.
"It actually took the edge off our nerves on the day because it made it fun – singing as we were all getting ready. We didn't have to worry about our lip-syncing because we knew every single word, they didn't even need to play the music for us."
