Kym Marsh and Dan Hooper have reportedly separated due to the personal trainer's "meddling" ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Waring.
The claims come just a day after Hooper confirmed he and Marsh were "taking a break", but denied that their engagement had been called off. The 32-year-old did not address the reports any further, but it is understood his ex-partner Stephanie Waring is at the centre of why he and Marsh have separated. Hooper and Waring, who split shortly before he started dating Marsh, have a two-year-old daughter named Lexi together.
A source is quoted by The Sun as saying: "Stephanie just won't leave Kim and Dan alone. She is constantly calling Dan and has been meddling in their relationship.
"Dan doesn't have the option of shutting [Stephanie] out. He would never go back with Steph and Kym knows that. Trust has never been an issue and Kym has been jealous of Steph. But tensions have built up between Dan and Kym."
They added: "He's the father of her [Stephanie's] child so despite whatever has happened she does want the best for him but the past year has not been pleasant dealing with Kym.
"As much as she wants the best for him, it's all a bit too raw right now. Dan has rubbed the whole thing in her face a lot. Although she feels sorry for him, it seems like karma."
Another insider told the Daily Mirror: "It was as if there was a third person in the relationship. Kym felt that Stephanie was constantly meddling and it caused massive rows between her and Dan.
"It was exhausting and in the end Kym couldn't take any more and decided she needed a break. The relationship turned toxic."
A representative for Ms Waring has since released a statement denying the actress was a factor in the split. They said: "Stephanie and Dan have a daughter together and are obviously in contact with each other as rightly she is their main priority."
Steph and Dan were in a five-year relationship before they went their separate ways in January 2014. Just weeks later – and following much speculation – Hooper confirmed he was in a relationship with Marsh. In December 2014, the couple announced their engagement.
