A source is quoted by the publication as saying: "It's finished. It's not just a break. She ended things and moved back to Los Angeles."
It was initially reported that their busy work schedules and long distance between them were to blame for the split. Stone was seen attending the Golden Globes and Academy Awards earlier this year without her boyfriend, while Garfield, 31, is currently said to be filming a new Martin Scorsese film, Silence in Taiwan, which also played a role in the separation.
"He'd [Andrew] been in a dark place for months, getting into his role," the insider added. "He wasn't being the best partner."
Stone and Garfield started dating in 2011, having met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man movie. They were last pictured together in January of this year.
