The Coronation Street actress and her long-time boyfriend Chris Farr welcomed their first child together, a son named Albert, in November 2014. Since then, the 31-year-old has said being a mother is "the best job in the world", but that she would not be able to do it without her family's support.
Speaking to Reveal, she said of her little boy: "He's just fitted so perfectly into our lives. Seeing him smile is the best bit."
She went on to talk about getting to grips with parenting, and admitted: "I'm kind of just copying other mum's that I see do it really well, including my mates at Corrie who have got little ones and do it brilliantly.
"I'm quite a chilled out person, but I am getting a lot of support. Albert has amazing grandparents and all my friends at Corrie are honorary aunties and uncles.
"I'm just in awe of mums or dads who do it on their own. I need the support."
McAlpine and Farr have been together for 10 years. They were introduced by mutual friend – and Jennie's Corrie co-star – Antony Cotton.
