The 33-year-old, who has been married to rugby player Ben since 2012, welcomed the couple's second child together earlier this month.
The journey leading up to the birth wasn't smooth sailing for the pair however, when Ben, 29, was injured during one of his rugby matches.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, the singer said: "The lead up to the birth was so hard because at one point it looked like Ben was going in for surgery the week that I was due.
"I was heartbroken for Ben and a lot of tears were shed but we work as a team and the upside is that he's been able to spend so much time with Tadhg."
Her husband added that he was able to be there for the delivery, admitting that he "abandoned" his wife as soon as she gave birth. He explained: "I did my own check on him [Tadhg] and cut the cord, as I had done with Aoife.
"Again, that was an incredible experience. I held him for a while, then lifted him onto Una for that amazing skin-to-skin contact."
Una and Ben tied the knot in her native Ireland in June 2012, after four years of dating. The couple's first child, a daughter named Aoife, was born in March of that year.
