Wedding Ring Found After Six Years

A man has found a wedding band at Weymouth Harbour – six years after his friend initially lost it.

According to reports, Mark Thorne, a lifeboat worker, lost his wedding ring in 2009. He was on an emergency call at the time and he lost his ring has he helped to launch an inshore lifeboat at the harbour.

He tried to locate the ring when he returned, even using a metal detector, but his searches over the year were to no avail. It was only at the weekend, when his friend Steve Woolford was walking along the harbour during low tide, that he spotted something glinting in the sunshine. On further inspection, he discovered the ring on the shoreline and contacted Mr Thorne.

Mr Woolford is quoted by the BBC as saying he was "over the moon" to have found the ring, while Mr Thorne, who married his wife Sarah in 2004, said he owned his friend "a bottle of whisky."
