Woman's Day, an Australian magazine, was the first to publish the claims which quickly spread across social networking sites. The magazine said that Prince Harry had emailed the former 'Harry Potter' actress asking her out on a date. He is thought to have contacted Watson following her split from Matthew Janney last year, and the actress then met the Prince when she was with a number of her friends. A source is quoted by the magazine as saying: "Harry didn't want her to feel like she was put on the spot. A party also shows he's fun and not stuffy. He's smitten – and it's more than Emma's looks."
However, the reports have now been denied by Ms Watson, who is notoriously private when it comes to her relationships.
Taking to Twitter, the 24-year-old UN Women Goodwill Ambassador simply wrote: "World. Remember that little talk we had about not believing everything written in the media?!"
She added: "Also..... marrying a Prince not a prerequisite for being a Princess."
The actress then shared a link to Alfonso Cuarón's 1995 film 'A Little Princess', which includes the line: "I am a princess. All girls are."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Clarence House is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "Prince Harry's private life is private. We would not confirm or deny that."
