The survey, conducted by ASDA ahead of Valentine's Day, revealed the region secured 17% of the vote to secure top spot.
It is thought the 'World's Sexiest Man' Jamie Dornan, as well as Liam Neeson, Rory McIlroy and Christine Bleakley have helped boost the region's dulcet tones.
The Scots came in close behind with 15% of the vote, with the Queen's English rounding off the top three. More than 2,000 people took part in the poll, which found the Welsh, Cockney and Mancunian accent all featuring. The distinctive Essex twang also made the list – in last place with just 1% of the vote.
Michael Figg, buyer at Asda, is quoted as saying: "We love all of our customers' accents, but it's clear some are more popular than others. Our new Valentine's Day bears will mean you can share your message of love with the objection of your affection, in any accent which tickles their fancy."
