Speaking to Us Weekly, the 36-year-old added that it is "only a matter of time" before they have children.
He said: "We want to have kids, so it's just a matter of time. Whenever it happens, we'll be excited."
The singer also commented on their relationship, saying they try to be together as much as possible, despite their busy schedules.
"We want each other to be happy, and part of that is being fulfilled in our work and loving what we do. We're there for each other," he admitted.
The couple have previously spoken out about their love for each other, but Legend has admitted that it took him a while to realise that Teigen was 'The One'.
When asked by the publication if he fell in love with the model at first sight, he admitted: "Not right away. I'm more cautious than that. I wasn't like, 'This is the woman I'm going to marry' from day one.
"For me I'm the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever."
Legend, 36, and Teigen, 29, dated for four years before their engagement in December 2011. They married in Como, Italy, in September 2013.

John Legend has admitted he can't wait to start a family with his wife Chrissy Teigen.Speaking to Us Weekly, the 36-year-old added that it is "only a matter of time" before they have children.
