Elderly Woman's Wedding Rings Stolen

Kent Police have appealed for information after an elderly woman's wedding ring and eternity ring were stolen.

The incident happened at around 11.30am on Saturday 6 December in Sturry Court Mews.

The victim, aged 86, is understood to have been approached by a man who asked for directions. He then demanded that she hand over the two rings she was wearing.

When she refused, he pushed her and grabbed the jewellery from her finger.

A gold wedding ring and ruby eternity ring were taken.

The woman suffered cuts and bruising in the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect has been described as a slim black man, aged in his early 20s, 5ft 8ins tall and clean shaven. He is thought to have been wearing a woolly hat which was possibly striped, at the time of the incident.

Investigating officer, PC Anne Aylett, said: "This incident took place in broad daylight on Sturry Hill and if there is anyone who recognises the description of this man or who has any information that may assist to get in touch."
