Susannah Gage, a fan of the band, was attending a special screening of the group's new DVD, Tourplay and Live at The O2, at the head office of Universal Pictures in London.
As part of the event, the band also took part in a question and answer session with the fans. As the night came to a close, a member of the group – Harry Judd – said they had time for just one more question.
At this stage, Ms Gage's boyfriend of six years, Craig Beadle, appeared from behind the screen at the back of the stage.
When Susannah was invited down to the front of the room, her partner got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes.
Later, McBusted posted a video of the couple online, with Judd writing: "We did a #tourplay Q&A it was ace. Then this guy crashed it and proposed to Susannah and she said yes!"
It is understood the groom-to-be contacted the band just hours before the screening after learning that his girlfriend had won tickets to attend. The band were more than happy to plan the surprise.
