The research, commissioned by sunshine.co.uk, asked 2,176 people, aged 18 or over, what lengths they would go to for a cheaper holiday, or a round-the-world trip.
Many admitted they would go to strange lengths in order to bag the holiday.
Respondents were first given a list of things they could – for the purposes of the study – do to save at least 50% on a holiday.
For example, 65% of Britons said they would stand for the entire duration of a flight if it meant they would be given a cheaper holiday, while 42% said they would be willing to share a hotel room with a stranger. A further 13% said they would abstain from alcohol during the trip.
The fictional scenario also revealed that when it comes to the possibility of a free round-the-world trip, 24% would give up a non-vital organ in exchange for the experience, while just over a quarter (27%) confessed they would run naked through a busy high street.
For others, they would happily sacrifice their relationship, with 12% saying they would dump their partner in order to have a round-the-world trip.
Those taking part in the survey were also asked if they had been dishonest in the past when it came to a holiday so they could benefit in some way. Just over a fifth (21%) admitted they had.
When questioned further, 42% said they used the 'special occasion' fib, such as an anniversary, to gain special treatment, with a bold 13% had lied about being on their honeymoon, just so they would receive an upgrade.
