The research, conducted by insurance firm Endsleigh, found that those leaving university in 2014 expect to marry at average age of 29, and become a parent the following year. The 'Class of 2014', also expect to be established in their career by the age of 27, and have bought their first home by the age of 30.
The survey involved 1,423 university leavers across Britain ahead of their graduation and asked about their future expectations.
Elsewhere, when asked about future living plans, 38% of respondents said they planned to move back home, while 24% said they envisioned living with their partner. 11% were planning to live by themselves, while 8% said they were staying with friends.
Finances are an issue for some, as 20% said they would split the bill with their partner, while 21% are expecting help from their parents or a relative.
For 8%, they confessed they wouldn't be paying anything at all – because a relative has already agreed to pay it for them.
Julia Alpan, Student and Graduate Marketing Propositions Manager at Endsleigh Insurance, commented: "For many recent graduates, the post-university world can be exciting and daunting in equal measure. 2014's university leavers are clearly bullish and ambitious in their hopes and expectations for the future, aiming to reach a number of significant life milestones – including becoming established in their careers, buying a home, getting married and having their first child – all by the age of 30.
"With many of the respondents being in their early twenties, it will be interesting to see how these expectations might shift as graduates get older. 30 can seem a long way off at 21 but scarily close at 25!
"In line with their plans, the figures also indicate that graduates are more than prepared to knuckle down during their 20s – especially when it comes to managing their money – however the overall feeling is that the Class of 2014 is positive about moving to a new stage of their lives as they leave their university years behind them."
