The singer separated from David Lucado, a lawyer, in September but earlier this week it had been reported that she was seeing someone new.
Spears, 32, has now confirmed she is back on the dating scene.
Speaking to Extra TV, the singer said: "Yes, there is a special someone." However, she refused to provide any further details, simply adding that the romance was "very new".
At the beginning of the week, E! News reported Spears was in a relationship with producer and writer Charlie Ebersol after meeting through friends.
A source was quoted by the publication as saying: "He is the sweetest guy ever and they are very much enjoying getting to know one another.
"They are both very happy and having fun. It's just the beginning so no idea if it will become serious but right now they are having a lot of fun together."
