According to People magazine, the actor and his wife, Susan, are said to have welcomed a baby girl earlier this week.
In July, the 49-year-old revealed the couple's baby news on his social media accounts.
On his Facebook page, he wrote: "Um. I don't know if it's a 'man's world', but I'm certain women run it.
"Susan and I are therefore delighted to announce we are expecting a baby. Girl. November. Rdj."
He also took to his Twitter account, telling his followers: "Yo. Susan. Me. Baby. Girl. November. Scorpio?"
The couple, who met in 2003 on the set of movie 'Gothika' and married in 2005, are already parents to two-year-old son Exton. Downey Jr is also a father to Indio, 21, from a previous marriage.
