Joey Essex reportedly ended his relationship with Sam Faiers because they disagreed about wanting to get married.
The couple who have dated on-and-off for the last three years, were alleged to have separated "for good" earlier this month after deciding they didn't have a future together.
No reason was given for the split and the couple had looked loved-up in photos they had posted to social media sites just before their break-up. However, it is thought the pair had been involved in a number of arguments and while Faiers, 23, thought marriage would solve their problems, her partner disagreed.
A source is quoted by Closer magazine as saying: "Sam and Joey had been rowing for months because they wanted completely different things in a relationship – Joey felt like Sam was continually trying to keep him on a leash and he wasn't ready for a big commitment.
"Sam thought having a wedding to focus on would bring her and Joey closer together but he was horrified when she asked him about planning a big day for January. He told Sam he definitely couldn't see himself marrying her anytime soon so they agreed to call it a day for good."
