On Monday night she tweeted: "Slow labour, feeling pretty blue in hospital everything is fine just need to rest and stay patient my angel will come soon xxx (sic)".
The 28-year-old previously announced that she would call her daughter Arabella.
It is understood Ferguson has been with the father of her unborn child for over a year, but refuses to talk about him or their relationship with the press. It will be their first child together, while the singer is already a mother to daughter Lillie May, nine, and seven-year-old Karl from a previous relationship.
News of Ferguson's pregnancy was first announced in April after she collapsed during a performance on Loose Women.
