The comedian was speaking on The Today Show, when his former relationship with the singer was brought up. Brand, 39, has previously poked fun at his ex-wife and their marriage in various interviews, but on Monday he had nothing but praise.
He admitted: "I really enjoyed it [our marriage]. Katy Perry is an amazing person."
Earlier this year, Perry, 29, confessed that she had found the break down of her marriage to be "traumatic", explaining: "It was emotionally traumatic for me. It was the death of a dream. I was in fairytale land, and the reality of it wasn't so.
"But I don't really like talking about it anymore, because it feels like a thousand lifetimes ago, and also it makes me look desperate, like I need it for attention."
Brand and Perry announced their engagement in 2009 and married in October 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony in India. Just 14 months later, the British comedian filed for divorce. It later emerged that Brand had sent his partner a text message, telling her of his intention to divorce.
Their separation was finalised in July 2012.
