The former Girls Aloud singer, who welcomed her first child with Jason Bell earlier this year, shared the couple's novel approach in a recent interview with The Mirror.
Speaking to the newspaper, the 29-year-old said that when the couple have an argument, or just need some space from each other, they tend to go to their other house.
She explained: "It's hard being with a man, it really is. They just don't 'get' you all the time. It's especially hard after you've had a baby – sometimes you're like, 'I feel like I might hate you right now'.
"I send him into the other room if we're not getting on, or another house. I'm like, 'I can't look at you, go to the other house!'
"We're lucky, we have a place in LA and New York so we can get breathing space from one another.
"So, any time we need it, one of us will go to the other place – another state – or even anther country. It's healthy."
Coyle, who is originally from Northern Ireland, revealed she was pregnant with her first child in August 2013. She and Bell were previously engaged, but they went their separate ways in 2011. They are thought to have reunited some time last year, while they became engaged over Christmas.
Their daughter, Anaiya, was born in February.
