The survey, commissioned by QHotels and YouGov, asked more than 800 parents – with children aged 12 and under – for their main complaints when travelling with their families. Issues also making their way onto the list include inconsiderate guests, a lack of entertainment for the children and sharing a room.
A common issue with the rooms is that they are often only equipped with showers, not baths, and therefore make them unsuitable for small children.
Room arrangements aside, facilities at the hotel are equally important for many parents. 41% listed family-friendly television channels as a requirement when staying in a hotel with their little ones, while the same percentage said a games room or children's club is important, and 39% said activity packs. Meal times is also vital for families, with 60% of parents saying that hotels should provide menus for kids. Elsewhere, some 55% also wanted special offers to allow their children to go free.
Claire Rowland, Director of Marketing at QHotels, commented: "The results of this survey show how important family-friendly staff and facilities are."

4. Inconsiderate guests or drunkenness (6%)
5. Lack of entertainment for children (5%)
6. No child-friendly menu (5%)
7. Lack of facilities for children (5%)
8. Not being able to relax due to noisy kids (4%)
9. Sharing a room (3%)
10. Poor quality beds (3%)
