The former Olympic gold medallist is due to tie the knot with fiancé Harry Needs later this month. The couple have been engaged for 18 months.
Speaking to The Mirror about her big day, the 25-year-old admitted: "I can't wait for the wedding. We have been engaged for a year-and-a-half so we have had so much time to plan. I understand why people get stressed if they have a wedding to plan in six months. I don't know how they do it."
"We are having a really small wedding," she added. "Both of us can't wait to be married. I don't want to give too much away as there are a few surprises for Harry, but we are not getting married in a church.
"We have just tried to make it about us – that is what it should be about."
Adlington and Needs announced their engagement in March 2013. They have been in a relationship since 2011.
