Confirming the news to the MailOnline, the singer, who was formerly a member of boyband The Wanted, also revealed the couple's wedding will have a Great Gatsby-theme.
The 25-year-old proposed to his partner, Nareesha McCaffrey, last year and ever since there has been speculation as to the couple's wedding plans. One report claimed that the pair were to have a full-blown Star Wars-themed ceremony, but Kaneswaran has said that is not the case.
He told the publication that while he is a fan of the movie franchise, rumours that his fiancée would be wearing a Princess Leia outfit are "kind of ridiculous".
"I want to incorporate Star Wars into the wedding, but I won't go that far," he admitted. "She [Nareesha] wants to look like a princess and is more interested in a Cinderella type of wedding which is perfectly fine and understandable. I would never make her wear a slave dress.
"It will be grand, more like The Great Gatsby. It will be elegant."
The singer also confirmed that the couple would walk down the aisle next year.
He said: "With everything going on this year we are both so busy. So we will get married next year, probably in Europe.
"Everyone has been asking us about the wedding, and we are excited, and have spent a good amount of time on the details of it, but we want to spend some time together before we get into the wedding madness.
"There is already so much madness in our life that planning such an important event is something we don't want to worry too much about at the moment. It will happen, and when it does it will be great, but we want to spend our summer in LA focusing on building our life here."
Kaneswaran and McCaffrey dated for six years before they announced their engagement in December 2013.
