The mum-of-two recently sent her husband, Tom Williams, a series of messages on Twitter asking him to get in touch with her and their two children. One of the messages read: "When will you be home, Tom? Your kids need you."
At the time, friends of the 32-year-old also got involved with some asking if he had "forgotten" about his family. Williams did not publicly respond to the messages, and his subsequent lack of communication is said to have left his partner "stressed".
While McClean is based in the UK, Williams owns his own concierge service in Las Vegas. As a result, he can spend a number of weeks at a time in the city as he shows tourists and party-goers where to visit in the area.
Rumours surrounding the couple's marriage first emerged earlier this month, but according to Reveal magazine, it all became too much for the model. A source is quoted as saying: "She stopped eating because she had no appetite through stress. Nicola was surviving on Diet Coke and water and was barely sleeping at night.
"Then one morning it all got too much. She was in a meeting and just couldn't concentrate – her head was buzzing. As she stood up, she passed out cold."
She was taken to hospital following the incident, and while Williams is now back in the UK, the future of the couple's marriage is "uncertain".
In a statement to The Mirror's 3AM, McLean's agent confirmed: "Nicola blacked out as she stood up to leave a meeting, she was dehydrated and under a lot of stress, she hadn't been taking care of her health as she had had so much on her mind, but is now making sure she eats and tries to get some sleep.
"She's going through a very difficult time at the moment and just needs some time to try and get back to being her usual, happy go lucky self."
