One in four families are guilty of losing their temper with their fellow passengers, with a majority of the rows taking place along London's M25, between 10am and 1pm.
The survey, carried out by One Poll to mark the Digital HD release of Rio 2, found that music being played, children distracting the driver and arguments over who sits where in a car are the three main reasons for disagreements starting as a family embarks on their summer holiday. A further 5% said family members passing gas in an enclosed space was the catalyst for arguments.
Some 21% of parents admitted they have stopped the car and threatened the rest of the family that they would not drive any further after a row began, while 15% said they had been in a row so severe, that they actually abandoned their holiday plans and returned home.
