Bride Runs 5K On Her Wedding Day

A bride-to-be was left with just one hour to get ready for her wedding after she decided to take part in a 5K race the morning of her big day.

According to the Daily Mail, 30-year-old Helen Critchley takes part in the Bolton Parkrun Race at Leverhulme Park every Saturday. However, her wedding to Brett Bury, 36, was recently scheduled to take place on a Saturday – and not taking part in the run was not an option for the mum-of-two.

She is quoted by the publication as saying: "I run the race every Saturday and I didn't see why I should make any exception just because it was my wedding day.

"When I told my family I was doing it they all shook their heads and said I couldn't possibly do it and wouldn't end up going through with it.

"I think that made the challenge even more appealing though and luckily I was only a couple of minutes late to the altar. Some of my friends and family ran with me and I made them wear tutus as a bit of fun."

Ms Critchley completed the run in 25 minutes and afterwards, dashed home to get ready for her wedding. She married her partner of 13 years at Mere Hall Register Office. The couple then held a festival-themed reception at their home where family, including their two sons, were in attendance.
