That is according to a recent survey commissioned by independent online cruising agency bonvoyage.co.uk.
More than 2,000 people took part in the study and while a majority of those on a cruise go for the sun, sea and sights, 14% also found love.
Of those relationships, 47% petered out within the year, while 41% admitted they are still with the partner they met. For the remaining 12%, they married their other half.
Interestingly, those who found love on a cruise were most likely to have been on the trip with friends (51%), or family (24%). Sadly for singletons, the statistics aren't as positive, with just 14% hooking up, while 3% said they had been on a cruise with an ex-partner when their romance happened.
The Caribbean topped the list for the destination where people had found love (34%) and was followed by Hawaii (25%) and the South Pacific (23%). The Mediterranean (12%) and the Baltic (8%) rounded out the top five destinations.
Steph Curtin, cruise development manager at bonvoyage.co.uk, is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "Perhaps it's the warm breeze or the crashing waves, but cruise holidays can be a real source of romance for some travellers. Our findings show that while the majority of cruise goers enjoy the expected amenities and entertainment, such as the fantastic swimming pools, delicious food or fascinating destinations, some even go so far as to find love on board their ship.
"Cruise holidays present a fantastic opportunity to meet people, even if you're not searching for a new partner."
