Couple Marry With Haribo Rings After Real Ones Are Stolen

A couple have tied the knot with a set of jelly Haribo rings after their own wedding rings were stolen before the ceremony.

According to reports, the rings of Natalie and David Norris-Lee were stolen from their home two days before their big day. The couple, who have been together for 19 years, are understood to have left their front door unlocked for their son who was out working on Friday night. They went to bed and the next morning they discovered the wedding jewellery as well as a few other items had been stolen.

Speaking to the media, Mrs Norris-Lee, 39, said: "We have two massive dogs which sleep in the hallway so I usually felt it was fine."

However, the animals were not in the house that night as they had been put in kennels.

Discussing the robbery, she added: "They must have thought they had hit the jackpot. The most mortifying thing was they also took Dave's late mother's jewellery and irreplaceable photographs."

The bride-to-be and her husband did look for new wedding rings, but admitted: "We'd spent so much time choosing our wedding rings, it didn't seem right to have some other gold bands blessed.

"I just said to Dave I'd rather use Haribo sweets, so we did.

"We had the Haribo blessed in church but then had to eat our rings as they were melting in the heat."

The couple, who run nightclub and music venue The Roadmender, tied the knot at St Laurence's Church in the West Midlands and said the theft did not ruin their big day. They plan to buy new rings after their honeymoon.
