The victim, 26-year-old Colette Moreno, was killed just minutes after she took a selfie of herself and her friend Ashley Theobald in the car as they made their way to the Lake of the Ozarks. Theobald was driving the vehicle, and Ms Moreno was a front-seat passenger.
The bride-to-be was killed when Ms Theobald tried to overtake a truck on a highway. According to US media, Theobald said her friend suffered from asthma and had been coughing because of the fumes coming from the truck. She tried to overtake when her car collided with another oncoming vehicle.
She is quoted as saying: "We both thought it was clear and there was a hill that neither one of us saw. There was a truck coming and I swerved and he swerved with me."
Ms Moreno, who has a five-year-old son, was due to marry Jesse Arcobasso, 28, next month.
