The 27-year-old, who will become a dad for the first time later this year, made the comments in a television interview with Lorraine on Friday morning.
On his impending fatherhood, he said: "It's a little bit daunting, I'm not gonna lie. But I'm really excited and looking forward to getting stuck in.
"I actually became an uncle recently so I've been getting practice and putting in a shift or two there."
Earlier this month, Gill announced he and his wife, Chloe, were to become parents for the first time. In a message on Twitter, he told his fans: "Mrs @ChloeSGill is soon to become Mummy Gill!!!!!!!!!!!!hehehe #jbnews #babygill #excited #cantwaittobeadaddy (sic)."
The baby news came just weeks after the couple tied the knot in a traditional wedding ceremony in Scotland. The pair have been in a relationship since 2008. They first met on The X Factor and in January, they announced their engagement.
