Some 500 women, either recently engaged or married, were questioned by David's Bridal for the study. It found that many women today are leaving behind the pre-marital traditions and adopting a more modern approach to their big day instead. For example, 93% of those polled said that things once considered 'taboo' are now acceptable. Perhaps surprisingly, 44% of women said confessed that they would willingly have one final fling with a celebrity crush just before their wedding, while a further 17% shockingly admitted they would rather have one last dalliance with their ex.
For 5% of the females involved in the study? They wanted one last fling with the best man.
Other more modern approaches to married life include the 'no sex until marriage' debate, with 72% of women saying they actually support sex before marriage, while 38% saw no issue with having children before they tie the knot.
Finance was another topic for many. 82% were in support of living with their partner before the wedding, while 56% said they would buy a house together before they walked down the aisle. 45% had no problem with sharing a checking account prior to the wedding.
One of the age-old traditions that has appeared to stand the test of time however, is the bride's new name, as 71% said they would take their partner's last name after the wedding, while 17% said they will hyphenate their names.
