For the boys, Oliver took the top spot, while Emily was the most popular names for girls, according to pregnancy and parenting website BabyCentre.
There was a mix of the ever-popular traditional names, like George and Sophie, but there were also new additions to the top ten – as well as a surge in names which may have been inspired by celebrity status.
For example, Eric jumped 284 places in the list, and while it is now placed 118th in the list of most popular boys names, it is thought the increased use of the moniker has been influenced by Simon Cowell. In February, the music mogul became a father for the first time, and he named his son Eric.
Elsewhere, the hit Disney animation 'Frozen' also seems to have inspired parents as 'Elsa' entered the list of most popular girls names for the first time. The poll said there was a 243 increase in babies named Elsa since 2013.
Sarah Barrett, Managing Editor at BabyCentre, said: "Whilst the film's [Frozen] popular heroine is called Anna, Elsa offers a more unique name and is also a strong female role model.
"Elsa is the ice queen but she sees the error of her ways and is shown to be a sensitive, but strong and confident character. Just in the way the name Arya from Game of Thrones increased in popularity in 2013, films are hugely influential."
Other names that ranked highly among parents included Albert, Ronnie, Edith and Isla, while others, such as George, fell in the rankings. Other 'royal' names, like Harry and William, retained their popularity however.
The most popular girls' names are:
1. Emily
2. Isabella
3. Olivia (dropped from #1)
4. Amelia
5. Sophie (up 4 places)
6. Isla
7. Ellie
