The research, conducted by jeweller Vashi Dominguez of Diamond Manufacturers, found that the things women would like to change about their big day include their wedding dress, their bouquet and even their bridesmaids.
In fact, 82% of brides said they would change at least one aspect of their wedding if they could.
One in three brides admitted they regretted their choice of wedding dress and would like to change it if they could go back in time, while 38% would alter their hair and make up.
30% said they were not happy with their wedding photographer on the day, with many saying "their friends' wedding pictures are better than ours"; while 33% also wishing they could go back and change the weather.
When it comes to the reception, 52% of brides stated they were unhappy with the best man's speech and would like to turn back time so they could edit it. "Inappropriate jokes" was the main source of annoyance for many, but for 12% of brides, their own father's wedding speech also caused problems – mainly because he forgot to thank some people. There's no escape for the female members of the wedding party either though, as 21% of women said they would dump at least one of their bridesmaids. Staying with the reception, one in six said they regretted their choice of music, with a "poor choice of band" being the greatest grievance, while a further one in 10 brides confessed the song for their 'first dance' was 'too cheesy'.
Commenting on the findings, Vashi Dominguez, is quoted as saying: "Most of us only marry once in our lives – why cut corners and skimp on costs?
"What seems to be really expensive today will be like a drop in the ocean in 10 years' time. We see women every day buying very expensive diamond rings because they don't like their engagement rings.
"Either their circumstances have changed and they can afford a better ring now or fashions have changed and they have previously lumbered themselves with a ring which looks completely inappropriate a few years after the wedding.
"My advice to all women preparing for their wedding is to think very carefully about the ring because the chances are you won't get an opportunity to change it.
"No one wants to be left wearing an engagement ring for 50 years which they don't like."
