The party, which included the happy couple, were taking part in a photoshoot around an hour before the wedding was due to begin, KMSP-TV has reported.
The group was herded onto a jetty for the photographs but shortly afterwards the structure, in Crosslake, Minnesota, gave way – causing the bride and groom (Dan and Jackie Anderson) as well as their bridesmaids and groomsmen – to fall into the lake.
It is thought three of the bridesmaids were able to scramble to safety, but the rest of the group were left to dry out ahead of the wedding.
The ceremony went ahead as planned, albeit commencing just 10 minutes late.
Megan Fritze captured the moment in a video and told Fox 9 that the bride was still "all smiles" on her big day.
