The research, carried out by Microsoft, asked 2,000 women and 500 employers how their performance had changed due to becoming a mother – and it found that having a child improves the workplace skills of female workers.
Almost two-thirds of working mums (62%) said they become a better multi-tasker after they have children, while 46% felt their time management skills improved and 27% became more organised.
It's not just mothers who notice the difference however, as 57% of employers said mothers also make better team players when compared to those women who do not have kids.
Some 29% said their employee's team work improved after having children, while 35% said their multi-tasking skills were better. One in three were also found to appreciate their colleagues and clients more when they became a mother, their employers said.
Elsewhere, technology was found to play an important role in helping mothers balance their home and work life, as 37% of working mums said they use technology to work from home when they are unable to get into the office. A further 29% admitted new technology allowed them to fit in an extra 60 minutes in their schedule, with 23% fitting in an extra two hours.
As a result, 25% of mothers said they are twice as productive as their boyfriend or husband.

"As a mum-to-be I'm inspired by these women and proud to be part of the Office 365 campaign which is all about celebrating those who work wonders."
