The actress was speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when she opened up about her friends' engagement. Last month, it was confirmed that Clooney and British-based human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin were due to marry. They are said to have been in a relationship since October 2013.
Commenting on the news, Roberts, 46, said: "I think it's sublime. She is beautiful and smart and he is happy and that's what matters to me."
Clooney and Alamuddin are yet to comment on the engagement news.
