Katie Price has released an official statement on her website following a series of tweets yesterday in which she announced that she was filing for divorce from husband Kieran Hayler.
On Wednesday, the 35-year-old hit out at her partner – as well as her best friend – publicly on Twitter as she revealed that the pair had been having an affair for the last seven months.
The news comes just days after Price confirmed she is six months pregnant with Hayler's second child.
In her tweets, the former glamour model fumed: "Sorry to say me and Kieran are divorcing him and my best friend ... bee[n] having a full blown sexual affair for 7 months (sic)".
This was shortly followed by claims of her friend, Jane Poutney, being a "home-wrecker" while Hayler was labelled as "a disgusting human being". Mrs Pountney, 49, has been one of Price's closest friends for almost two decades and was a bridesmaid when Price tied the knot with Hayler in 2013.
A few hours after the tweets were published, Price and Hayler were spotted arriving at the Pountney's family home for an alleged "showdown". No details have been released about what was said, but speaking afterwards, Derrick Pountney – who has two children with his wife Jane – denied a "full blown affair" had taken place, instead claiming "it was more like a drunken kiss".
Then, on Wednesday night, Price took to her website to release an official statement and clarify her messages.
She said: "I appreciate most people will have seen my tweets on the subject of my marriage to Kieran.
"I make no apologies for them though it will be appreciated that, sending them immediately after Kieran confirmed to me what he had been doing for the last 7 months, those tweets were a sign of my heart breaking. That he was doing it with a close friend of nearly 20 years is hard to understand.
"This statement however is from my head, not my heart. I am appalled that someone I loved, trusted and believed in has behaved in this way.
"If he had so little respect for our relationship I would have hoped he would have thought about our child or the one that we have on the way. That he did not means he will no longer be part of my life. I will do all I can to ensure he maintains a relationship with his children should he want that.
"I am so grateful for the love of my children and family at this time."
Price and Hayler, who is a builder and part-time stripper, married in the Bahamas in January 2013, a number of weeks after they first started dating. They welcomed their first child together, a son named Jett Riveria, in August 2013. While it was the first child for Hayler, Price is also a mother to Harvey, 12, Junior, eight, and six-year-old Princess from previous relationships.
