The couple have been romantically linked in the past, but following Perry's split from John Mayer earlier this year, the pair are said to have reconciled.
According to The Sun, a source is quoted as saying Pattinson and Perry met up at the Coachella festival in California at the weekend.
They explained: "Katy and Rob have been hanging out all weekend and making plans for Easter, too.
"Friends genuinely want to see them get it together properly. They think they bring out the best in each other."
Pattinson was previously in a relationship with his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, but the couple went their separate ways after Stewart confessed to having an affair with married film director Rupert Sanders. It is understood that Stewart and Perry also know each other, making the issue of the latter romancing Robert difficult, but that is apparently no longer a factor.
The insider added: "Katy and Rob are the best of friends with a very strong sexual chemistry. They care a lot about each other but have always been careful not to upset Kristen.
"But Kristen's off doing her own thing and accepting it's time for both of them to move on."
