Simon Cowell has said he won't be influenced by his new role as a father when it comes to his judging job on Britain's Got Talent.
The 54-year-old was speaking at the launch of the television show, which begins its new series this weekend, when he made the comments.
According to reports, Cowell said he was already kind when it came to judging the acts, thanks to his pet dogs.
He joked: "My dogs kind of got me warmed up for that, Squiddly and Diddly. I learnt compassion from them.
"I've always liked kids," he added. "So we've always been kind to the kids on the show. But I mean, if someone's useless you're not going to suddenly go, 'You're fantastic', because you've had a baby."
The music mogul became a father for the first time earlier this year. He and his girlfriend, US socialite Lauren Silverman, welcomed a son, Eric, on Valentine's Day. Ms Silverman also has another son from her former marriage to husband Andrew.
