Recently, the singer was reported to be dating personal trainer Steve Uria, after allegedly flying out to South Africa twice in four months to meet him.
However, Cole, 30, has now addressed the story – and firmly denied there was any romance.
Taking to Instagram, the singer wrote: "Seeing a lot of fabricated stories on this.. One a great friend the other a married man.. Do they look alike to you ??"
Her question was situated next to two photographs of her with a man thought to be Mr Uria.
Cole then added: "I mean these ppl are nuts! @joelcompass last week.. Who's next? Roll up, roll up!.. To the fictional writers #shouldvegonetospecsavers #thatisall. Have a nice day peeps. (sic)"
The former X Factor judge was famously married to England footballer Ashley Cole from 2006 to 2012, but she filed for divorce after her partner was alleged to have cheated on her with a number of women. Most recently, Cheryl was in a relationship with backing dancer Tre Holloway, but their romance ended last year.
