The actress, who rose to fame playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, made the revelation in April's edition of Elle Australia.
In the interview, the 23-year-old explained: "I don't date people who are famous. I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me. I wish I could protect them."
The actress is currently said to be in a relationship with a Matthew Janey, 21, a rugby-playing student from Oxford University. Prior to this, Watson dated Will Adamowicz. Earlier this year, a representative confirmed the couple had "separated last summer and are no longer in touch."
The pair had also met at Oxford University in 2011 and reportedly began dating shortly after. It is thought that Watson's busy work schedule was a potential factor in the couple's separation.
