Those who break the law will be liable to a jail term of up to seven years.
MSPs voted on the plans to allow Westminster to create a law which will cover the whole of the United Kingdom. Scottish courts already have powers to issue Forced Marriage Protection Orders, which offer protection for both men and women who are affected by forced marriage.
Two years ago, legislation was passed which covered Scotland and allowed the courts to issue orders preventing people being married against their will. Those who breach such orders are already committing a criminal offence. The UK-wide legislation will be viewed as a strengthening of the rules.
Minister for Equalities, Shona Robison, said: "Forcing someone to marry against their will is an abuse of their human rights. It disenfranchises victims by removing from them the opportunities which should rightly be available to all.
"Criminalising forced marriage sends the strongest possible message that we will not tolerate this behaviour in Scotland. That is a message that I want potential perpetrators to hear loud and clear, as well as victims. "
