The couple are believed to have been in a relationship for two months, but were only recently spotted together as they left Jennifer Aniston's annual Christmas party last week.
A source has claimed the couple got together after being introduced through their mutual friend – Ed Sheeran. It is understood Sheeran has been staying with former 'Friends' star Cox as he works on his new album.
Speaking to Grazia magazine, an insider claimed: "Ed decided to set them up. They got on amazingly and have been dating ever since."
Another source added: "Johnny came along at the right time. Courteney is happier than ever."
Cox was previously married to David Arquette for 11 years. In 2010, they separated and their divorce was finalised in May this year. The couple have a nine-year-old daughter together, Coco. The actress then went on to date her 'Cougar Town' co-star Brian Van Holt, but the pair split in October.
