Khloe Kardashian has filed for divorce from Lamar Odom, ending months of speculation.
It is understood, in her court petition, that the reality television star has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the separation. It is also being claimed that Kardashian, 29, is not asking for spousal support, but has requested to a judge that 'Odom' be removed as her formal surname.
The couple's relationship has been the subject of much media speculation over the last few months due to allegations of cheating and drug abuse by Odom. The sports star was reported to be struggling with substance abuse problems during the summer, and this was followed by reports that the pair were living apart. Recently, Odom was sentenced to three years of probation for entering a no-contest plea in his DUI case. In addition, the 34-year-old was alleged to have cheated on his wife with a number of women and earlier this year, a video emerged of Odom rapping, in which he claimed to have been unfaithful to Kardashian while she was out of town.
Last month, Kardashian finally spoke out about her marital problems in an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. She revealed that she had been trying to save her relationship for a long time, but admitted it was becoming harder to salvage their marriage.
She said: "A lot's been going on in the past couple of years, just with me and Lamar, and I've made that choice myself to keep that within my marriage.
"But lately it's getting bigger than me... Sometimes things are bigger than yourself. I don't have a plan - I don't know what the next step is."
Kardashian and Odom tied the knot in Beverly Hills in September 2009 - exactly one month after they first met at a party held by one of their mutual friends.
