Les Scadding and his wife Samantha are understood to have ended their relationship 18 months ago, and often spent long periods apart before then, the Daily Mail has reported.
They are the third couple reported to have split recently after landing a multi-million pound fortune on the lottery.
Sources close to the pair confirmed they had separated, but the reason behind the split was a mystery. Some claimed Samantha had spend months refurbishing the couple's £2m villa in Barbados while Mr Scadding remained in their Gwent home; others say Samantha underwent a radical transformation in her appearance in the months leading up to the split.
It is also said Samantha, 42, who is 21 years younger than her now ex-husband and goes by the surname Peaachey-Scadding, enjoyed the sudden lifestyle winning the lottery brought, while her partner remained "very grounded".
A source said: "The money changed Sam. She spent a lot of time staying in plush hotels in London as well as Bardados. Les was happy just to fly out for shorter holidays there with her.
"Les was never materialistic, but Sam has a passion for diamonds – she drips in them."
A friend of Ms Peachey-Scadding added: "I think Les and Sam have just drifted apart a bit since they won the money. I suppose it's true what they say – money can't buy you love."
The couple were married for two-and-a-half years before they won the EuroMillions jackpot in November 2009. Records show Samantha filed for a divorce which was granted in April this year at Cardiff County Court.
