The 16-year-old has been repeatedly linked with Callahan, who was eliminated from the talent show earlier this month. Now, speaking to The Sun, Foster confirmed that the pair are "close".
"Sam and I are close, we are a unit," she said. "We understand each other.
"He wasn't getting the best comments from the judges but he does things in a positive way.
"He is a really good support system."
Her comments come just one week after she said she wasn't looking for a relationship, telling new! magazine that they are "just good friends".
"There's a lot of focus on me and Sam, but there's nothing going on," she revealed. "I've just come out of a long relationship, so looking at anybody else is not in my books right now.
"I'm very close to Sam. He is such a positive person and it's really nice to have someone there with such a good vibe, because the competition does get very stressful.
"I look up to Sam. No matter what gets thrown at him with all the bad comments, he has a good mindset."
Foster, who separated from her boyfriend Joshante Amihyia last month, has also recently been lined to One Direction singer Niall Horan.
