Earlier this year, speculation emerged that Hollywood, 47, had been unfaithful to his wife of 15 years, Alexandra. The woman he was accused of having an affair with was 35-year-old Marcela Valladolid - his co-star on the American version of the baking show.
Ever since the story broke, Hollywood has chosen not to speak about the incident, but yesterday (30 October), the baker opened up to BBC Radio 5 Live.
He admitted that leaving his wife was "the biggest mistake of my life", and was working on rebuilding the relationship he lost.
He said: "I did have an affair in America with my co-judge and it was something which was the biggest mistake of my life because actually I still love my wife."
He added that he "absolutely" wanted to get back together with Alexandra, who has started divorce proceedings.
"I'm at that point at the moment where we're talking and we're working to get back together again," he explained, "But it is going to take time."
The father-of-one also addressed the negative response he received from fans after he was reported to have become close to Ms Valladolid, and said it was justified.
"It was deserved, because what I did was wrong. I was shocked about the whole thing kicking off the way it did... but I deserved it and I've taken it. It was my punishment.
"At the end of the day we're moving on and I'm in a much better place. I'm getting emotional now."
