The couple's relationship has been the subject of speculation for a number of months, but this is the first time a trial separation has been reported.
A source is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "They were considered to have one of the most solid marriages in Hollywood, but lately it hasn't seemed that way. Things seemed tense for months."
The couple have denied previous reports that their marriage is in trouble.
While appearing on Queen Latifa's chat show earlier this year, Will joked that he first heard about the rumours when he was in bed with his wife. However, the 'Men In Black' actor is reported to be staying in New Orleans since he finished work on his new film 'Focus', while RadarOnline reports that Jada has moved into her brother's California home, following a trip to Europe.
The couple married in 1997 and have two children together – Jaden, 15, and 12-year-old Willow. Will is also a father to Trey, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
