Earlier this week, it was confirmed that the couple had decided to go their separate ways.
The 28-year-old dancer took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support in the wake of the split, and also to deny claims that he had been spotted 'twerking' with a Cheryl Cole-lookalike in Australia.
He wrote: "First of all... I don't TWERK! Idiots! #coolstorybro" before adding: "Thank you all for your support. Cheryl is AMAZING as you all know!!! #soldierpower (sic)".
On Wednesday (9 October), Holloway hinted he had no option but to split from his girlfriend before he "lost" himself.
He tweeted: "Tell the negativity committee that meets inside your head to sit down and shut up! #imalive
"Sometimes against our will life gives us 2 options: losing yourself or losing someone else. Regardless of the situation,don't lose yourself.
"Oops I forgot ... Both are brought to you by ... that Anonymous person! #imalive (sic)".
Cole also took to her Twitter account earlier this week to thank her fans for their support.
She wrote: "Sometimes I just sit here by myself wondering why you're all so kind and nice and caring towards me. It's gets overwhelming. #soldiers
"Thank you for everything I mean that from the [heart] I love you. You're amazing. (sic)"
